Till Divorce Do Us Part 1

Divorce is real and unfortunately common.  Something strange happens when you take those marital vows.  What was once “Till death do us part” has now turned into “Till Divorce Do Us Part.”  Now, I can only speak for myself and my situation (don’t we all…?), but when you revoke those “I Do’s” it does something deep within one’s soul.  What, exactly?  I’m still trying to figure that out.

The Mission: Enjoy my Divorce poem therapy titled Till Divorce Do Us Part.

Till Divorce Do Us Part

Till Divorce Do Us Part

Veering its ugly head at the most inconvenient time,

Sneaking in like a hooligan committing a heinous crime.

From behind, lingers a knife that is permanently placed,

Forming impossible scars rendering an unforgiving embrace.

Healing is a viable option if only time persists,

Allow slotted minutes of uncontrollable salty mists.

Misery enters and exits like a slippery thief,

Leaving behind solid bits of sadness and grief.

Suppression settles in on perfect rare occasions,

Granting permission of freedom in forms of evasions.

Untying the knot, getting unhitched or untaking the plunge,

Ultimately results in a life-time wish of becoming expunged.

Utterly voluntary or undeniably forced,

Insurmountable pain stems from divorce.

Short, Sweet and to the point.  I’m talking about the poem, of course.  The dreaded “D” will be different for everyone depending on the person, the ex-spouse, the situation and the perspective.  But I’m sure we all can agree on one common theme, it’s never easy nor is it pretty.  Try making it work, first. In conclusion, Love is a Verb!

The Moral: Before you get married – make sure it’s what you want 100%.  Take those vows seriously.  Through sickness and in health.  For richer or for poorer.  Till DEATH do you part.  Don’t wait Till Divorce Do Us Part. Divorce is serous and it is real.  Above all, if you are going through a divorce, know that all that you are feeling, the ups and the downs are normal Experience it at your own comfort level.
