It can be agreed upon that the world of financials can get pretty messy. We live in a world of “I want this, but I can’t afford it”. Whether your job just isn’t paying enough, there aren’t enough hours to go around or your bills are so astronomically high that you have no wiggle room. Well I have a solution for you:
Top 10 Easy Ways to Save Money:
1. Keep it “Safe” and Don’t Touch It. Put your money in a lock box/safe to keep it safe. And DON’T touch it! You never know when you’ll need it.
2. Find a Penny, Pick it Up! It may seem silly or cheap to grab a penny from the ground, but pennies make nickels, nickels make dimes and so on. Ain’t no shame in saving some dough and not to mention… all day long you’ll have good luck!
3. Always Put some kind of Monetary Denomination Away. Whether it’s 10% of each paycheck or $10 a month – put something aside.
4. Set Goals. For example: make an attainable goal for yourself that you’ll save $100 by the end of the month. You can go without eating out a couple of times a month to meet your goal. The main purpose here is: make goals and stick to them.
5. Life is too short, so you’ll need to reward yourself now and then. Just Indulge Responsibly! If you’ve managed to save $300, don’t go on a shopping spree! Maybe take out at most $50 to spend (as long as it’s in line with your financial goals).
6. Which brings me to this: Don’t Spend Frivolously! If you really want that new game or a new pair of shoes, that’s one indulgent. But don’t go to the casino and throw all of your money away. That goes for strip clubs too, fellas!
7. Be honest with yourself and Assess your Wants and Needs. You know there’s a difference! Quiz time: which one of these is a Need and which one is a Want? Food. Clothes. Cell Phone Case (when yours isn’t broken). Bracelets. Umbrella (there’s a storm coming and you don’t have one). Comment below your Needs versus Wants Lists.
8. Compromise your Purchases. Ok, so you’re purse hunting. It’s soon autumn and you WANT to reward yourself with a new purse for the season. But do you really need that Louis Vuitton or will a Nine West serve the same purpose?
9. Bargains, Coupons, and Yard Sales – Oh My! Learn to haggle and clip coupons! You never know what you will find… The Diamond in the Rough!
10. Make a Personal Budget and actually follow it! Follow it like you follow Katy, Justin, and Taylor on Twitter. Write down your monthly income and expenses. Your income should be higher than your expenses. If they are not, then you need to reassess your NEEDS and WANTS and start downsizing your lifestyle. For example: if you have cable tv and Netflix – cut out the cable. I’m sure Netflix can satisfy all of your entertainment needs… or is it wants?
